Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria

The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria is the umbrella body for Muslim students across Nigeria. The Oyo State Area Unit coordinates its work throughout Oyo State: on campuses, in Area Councils, and in the communities around them.

Higher institutions and Area Councils

The Unit organises along two lines. Higher-institution branches sit on campus: universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, schools of health technology and Arabic institutes across the State. Area Councils are geographic, gathering members who live in the same part of Oyo State regardless of where they study.

Every delegate at the convention belongs to both, which is why registration asks for each of them.

Why the convention exists

A branch can be strong on its own campus and still be isolated from the forty others in the same Unit. COHIC is the Unit's answer: once a year, every higher-institution branch sends delegates to the same camp, under one theme, for four days.

Beyond the convention

COHIC is the largest thing the Unit does, but it is not the only thing. Da'wah programmes, welfare work, academic support, leadership training and technology initiatives run through the year, and those are gathered on the programmes page.
