The Council of Higher Institutions' Convention is the annual gathering of Muslim students from every higher institution in Oyo State: four residential days of lectures, tarbiyyah, technology and the friendships that outlast a campus.

The convention

Four days, one council

COHIC brings the higher-institution branches of the Oyo State Area Unit into one place. Delegates arrive on Thursday and leave on Sunday, and everything in between happens together.

Lectures & tarbiyyah

Sessions with scholars and lecturers, each speaking to a topic assigned ahead of the camp, built around this year's theme.

Institutions meeting institutions

Delegates from more than forty campuses under one roof for four days. Fostering those relationships is a purpose of the camp, not a side effect.

Technology track

Hands-on tech sessions for students who want to build: skills that travel back to campus and stay useful long after the camp.

What people say about COHIC

Reflections from delegates who camped at earlier editions of the convention.

I came expecting lectures and left with a network. Four days sleeping in the same hall as brothers from campuses I had only ever heard of does something no one-day conference can do.

Abdulrahman Ololade

Delegate, The Polytechnic of Ibadan · COHIC 2025

The tarbiyyah sessions were the heart of it for me. You are away from everything for four days, and that space is where the reflection actually happens.

Fatimah Adegoke

Delegate, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education · COHIC 2025

What I took back to my branch was practical: how to run our records, how to plan a programme properly. Our whole executive attended and it changed how we work.

Ibrahim Salaudeen

Branch Amir, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo

The technology track was not a talk, it was a workshop. I built something over those two sessions and I am still using what I learned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions?

Find answers to commonly asked questions about the convention.

Still stuck? Contact us →
How much is the delegate fee, and what does it cover?

The fee is ₦3,000 per delegate. It covers the whole four-day camp, including accommodation on site and meals. There is nothing further to pay at the gate.

How do I pay?

By bank transfer to the Unit account: 0004152778, MSSN OYO AREA UNIT, Jaiz Bank. Use your full name as the narration, keep the receipt, and upload it when you register on this website. The site does not take card payments.

Why does my ticket say "Pending"?

Because a person, not a machine, checks every payment. When you register you get your ticket immediately with a Pending stamp, which means your place is held while we verify the receipt you uploaded. Once verified we email you a confirmed ticket, and that is the one that admits you.

How long does verification take?

Usually within a day or two. If you have not heard from us after that, email us quoting your reference number, which begins with COH-.

My institution is not in the dropdown. What do I do?

Choose "Other" at the bottom of the list and type the name of your institution in the box that appears. It is a required question, so please do fill it in.

What is the difference between my institution and my Area Council?

Your institution is your campus branch. Your Area Council is the geographic council you belong to within Oyo State, based on where you live. Registration asks for both, and both are required.

Is it a camp or a day event?

It is a camp. Delegates sleep on site for all four days, from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th September. You are not expected to travel back and forth.

What should I bring?

Bedding (a mat and a light blanket), toiletries, a towel, a modest change of clothes for four days, your prayer items, any medication you take, and your ticket. Bring a laptop if you want to take part in the technology sessions.

How does the meal ticket work?

Every delegate ticket has a meal card printed on the back: four days by three services: morning, afternoon and night. The catering team ticks a box at each service. Print your ticket double-sided and bring it with you.

How does the QR ticket work at the gate?

Your ticket carries a unique QR code. It is scanned on arrival and admits one delegate. A Pending ticket will not scan through, so settle your payment verification before you travel.

Can I attend if I am not a student in Oyo State?

The convention is for the higher-institution branches under the Oyo State Area Unit. If you are outside the State but want to attend, write to us and we will advise.

How can I sponsor or partner with COHIC?

We welcome partnership. Please write to us with details of your organisation and we will send the sponsorship prospectus.
